The practice of yoga means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For some, it’s simply the best way to get a solid workout in a crowded apartment. For others, yoga is a spiritual experience that permeates every aspect of their lives. Whatever brings you to the mat, and no matter how often or seldom you come, we think that it’s always worth striving for a mindful yoga practice.
“Mindfulness” is one of those terms that gets thrown around quite a bit but rarely defined. Put simply, to be mindful means to be aware. Aware of your body. Aware of your breath. Aware of your feelings. Aware of what brought you to where you are right now.
A core tenant of mindfulness is that your awareness should be non-judgmental. You should pay attention to how you feel, where you are, what you’re doing – but you shouldn’t pass judgement on any of it or try to change it. Being mindful is about being fully present in the moment.
So, whether you practice yoga once every few weeks or every single day, your yoga practice is the perfect opportunity to practice mindfulness, as well.
At Hyde, we try to be a mindful yoga brand. To us, that means striving to be fully aware of what we’re producing, how we’re producing it, and how what we make will affect the people who use it.
We strive to be mindful in our design process. Our owners, AK and Brook, are both trained yoga instructors who know first-hand how an uncomfortable tank top or an ill-fitting pair of yoga pants can take you out of your practice. We strive to create beautiful clothing that is functional and flattering, both in and out of the studio.
We strive to be mindful in our manufacturing process. Our organic yoga clothing is made from eco-friendly materials like organic cotton that are grown and processed in sustainable ways. Our clothes are all made in Los Angeles, CA and the factory we use to manufacture our yoga wear is family-owned and run.
We strive to be mindful in our business practices. Hyde Yoga is an independently owned company. AK and Brook are accountable to our customers and to each other, and that’s it. We strive to be transparent and direct in every way possible.
We sincerely hope that everyone who tries our organic yoga clothing or interacts with our brand comes away with a positive experience. Thank you for caring about what we do and why we do it. Namaste.
