One interpretation of a yoga practice is the idea of union, or yoking two things together. Asana is the perfect representation of joining body and mind, which can be practiced off the mat in the home, during your commute, and especially in the kitchen.
When we bring mindful, loving intentions to the food we prepare, whether for ourselves or others, the meal will be all the more nourishing because it embodies the energetic qualities you brought to it.
I threw together this smoothie in pursuit of having a clean, healthy breakfast based on what I had on hand. Normally this might stir up some stress of preparing something tasty last-minute, but I stuck with my intention of creating a wholesome meal. Whenever I practice this type of kitchen etiquette, I am always pleased with the results (or am at least more open to the outcome, thanks to yoga).
I encourage you to befriend your kitchen, your body, and your heart.
This is how yoga defines my kitchen experience, how does it define yours?
